Project name:

Nankervis

Location:

Essendon, Victoria

The Nankervis Project was a kitchen renovation completed in 2010 that saw Hargreaves take out the the coveted HIA CSR Victorian Housing Kitchen and Bathroom Award. With a client brief for “a unique period-style kitchen, with modern functionality and convenience” it’s easy to see why the judges described the project as “a kitchen that fits in its Victorian environment perfectly”.

Hargreaves delivered on the brief with satin-gloss finished surfaces that are equally attractive and easy-to-clean. We made great use of the small space with the corner pantry and appliance cupboard, and a highlight for us was definitely marrying the kitchen into surrounding rooms with a curved island feature bench, framed by a complimentary curved bulkhead.

Custom made features throughout the design included flutes, roundels, glazing beads and dentil mouldings. The end result was a warm, inviting space that now functions as the centre point of the home. It carries the aesthetic appeal of old-world charm to cleverly mask a kitchen that is both practical and user-friendly.

The client was thrilled, and so were we! Receiving the highly sought after ‘blue diamond’ award was great recognition of the “outstanding quality of workmanship” and “brilliant execution” we put into not only this project, but each build we take on.
